The Island of Sri Lanka surrounded by the Indian Ocean is blessed with some of the world’s finest beaches. It’s all about endless palm fringed golden coasts, warm turquoise waters, amazing underwater wonders, a wide selection of water sports and plenty of sun, fun and happiness.

The East Coast has long, wide inviting beaches and is one of the world’s finest destinations for water sports and Whale & Dolphin watching. The more popular east coast beaches are Pasikudah with its wide sandy beaches protected by an off shore reef and Nilaveli with its Pigeon Island named as one of the two National Marine Parks in Sri Lanka. The Southern coastal strip is home to the most popular and most frequented beaches of which Hikkaduwa with its underwater wonders and Mirissa famed, as one of the finest places for Whale and Dolphin watching are the most popular. The west coast also offers the opportunity for turtle watching at the many turtle hatcheries situated on the coastline. Negombo on the west coast and the closest to the International Airport claims to have wide golden beaches, plenty of sunshine and great opportunity for aqua sports, undoubtedly appealing to any beach buff.
